Narcan Trainings – National Fentanyl Awareness Day

In honor of National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Newport County Prevention Coalition will be hosting multiple free Narcan trainings for residents of Newport County. Join us for a 30 minute training and learn the signs of a possible overdose and how to administer Narcan. Get trained, you could save a life!

What is Naloxone?

Naloxone, or more commonly known as Narcan®, is a safe medication that can save someone’s life by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose. The medication is designed to counteract an overdose of opioids, such as heroin, prescription painkillers, and fentanyl, but it is safe to use even if opioids are not present. If you are worried you or someone you know may be at risk of an opioid overdose, naloxone is available to you. It is highly encourage that families or individuals who are being prescribed opioids are trained on how to administer Naloxone in the case of an emergency.
